Starry Night Great Danes

Facebook

Welcome to Starry Night Great Danes! We breed high-quality, OFA and Embark health tested puppies. We love what we do and are committed to producing well-bred puppies for loving homes. We raise our litters in our home to help set the foundation for happy and confident puppies to transition well into their forever homes. It’s a privilege to have the opportunity to make an impact on each individual puppy!

The Great Dane is a giant breed, standing 30 inches or more at the shoulder. He has a short, smooth coat in fawn, black, blue, brindle, white with black patches (harlequin), or black with white trim (Boston). In North America, the ears are typically cropped erect while in Europe they are left in their natural fold. Grooming requirements are minimal.

Strong, elegant, and well-muscled, this is nevertheless an affectionate, loyal, and gentle breed. He prefers to live with people and is not really happy living in a kennel. The Great Dane is lively and alert, yet patient with children. However, due to his great size, he should always be supervised with children.

This dog needs room – indoor and out! Since he is happiest as a house dog, he should live in a larger home, and he must have a fenced yard. He is fine in the city or the country but he must have plenty of exercise, including at the very least a long daily walk. The Great Dane is highly intelligent and trainable. As he is a sensitive breed, harsh training methods are inappropriate.

A little about us:

I work full time in construction working with concrete (concrete finisher), and I have 6 littles! Stella (12), Austin (9), Wyatt (7) Oliver, (6) Harley (3) and baby Sawyer born Oct. 2023 (not pictured). They are our major helpers with the puppies and their socialization. I call them my little puppy crew and they absolutely adore the pups! I do all the whelping, feeding and cleaning and they get the fun job of playing!

We have 6 Danes, (Tess, Piper, Lily, Goose, Jax, and Milo). My first Dane ever, was a beautiful Harlequin named Prince. He will forever be my heart Dane. I loved him so much, I decided to get in contact with a local breeder and ask if she wanted to use him as a stud. She agreed and I kept a female (Willow) from his litter as to have a piece of him. He sired 3 litters with other breeders and I realized that I wanted to keep giving the joy of Danes to others. He was the light in my dark times, the star in the night. And that’s where Starry Night Danes started. We have come a long way since then and have learned so much from other breeders! All of our dogs are now OFA Certified and Embark tested to ensure we produce healthy, happy pups! We do breed off-color, as well as standard color Danes.

We welcomed our newest member, Sawyer, to the family on October 4th 2023!

Some of you have come out to our old house in River Falls, WI. It was a small 3 bedroom on 5 acres. As much as we loved it out there, it just didn’t accommodate all the kids and our fur children. In March 2021, we moved to a much larger home on 10 acres in Elmwood, WI! We have spent the last year finishing the 40x70 pole barn for future hang outs and boarding.

The pole barn will have 3 separate 1000+sq ft areas (indoor/outdoor), heated and a/c, a puppy hang out lounge, grooming station, puppy activity/play area, living room area with tv and couch. We just finished the outdoor area and now starting on the inside! We will share photos once it’s completed! I'm working on trying to put in a doggy pool as well!

We have a few past pups come stay with us while their owners go on vacation or emergencies so we’ve decided to try an expand to accommodate the pups staying with us! If you’re nearby and ever need a pup sitter while you go out of town, seriously, call me! I would be glad to watch them!
